René Martinez is a guitar repairman, technician, entrepreneur, inventor, guitarist (classical & flamenco trained) who owns and operates texasguitarwhiz.com. He has his own brand name guitar accessories, including a design of electric guitar strings named Big Core Strings. He has created his own guitar lube named GraphitALL®. He also owns René Martinez by Mojotone.com.
He brings to his credit 40 years of guitar expertise! Before he became a guitar technician and traveling worldwide, he apprenticed under violin maker David Caron. He repaired violins, violas, cellos, and basses. He became the exclusive violin makers’ repairmen. But he also favored the guitar and its making and repair. His other dream was to become a concert classical guitarist. After 13 years of repairing he met a guitar player Stevie Ray Vaughan, who hired him to maintain his guitars and travel with him on his tour. This is how he became a guitar technician or roadie. Being a roadie differed from being a fulltime guitar repairman. He only had to deal with one mans gear.
René has also worked with, Edie Brickell, Mick Jones of Foreigner, Clint Black, Prince, The Moody Blues, Jimmie Vaughan, Carlos Santana, John Mayer. This new career took René to many new roads and the inventions of products he needed for maintaining Vaughan’s guitars.
